What is the Role?
Sandy Bear is a Welsh bereavement charity that supports children and young people who have been bereaved. We are looking for volunteers to help run events in the community. These events often happen in the summer, although November and early December are other popular times. Events volunteers will set up the stand on the day (all Sandy Bear material will be provided) engage with people attending the event telling them about Sandy Bear and what we do. There is often a raffle or other fund raising mechanise to sell to help fund Sandy Bear’s work. The role will involve some standing during the event and sometimes the car park is a distance away from the stand requiring merchandise to be moved by hand.
The role will include
- Setting up the Stand including helping to put up any event shelter and arranging Sandy Bear information
- Talking to people attending the event about Sandy Bear.
- Providing contact information of the office for any questions that can’t be answered on the day
- Running the Raffle and taking money for any merchandise sold at the event
- Handing out free ‘goodie bags’ to people
- Talking to other stall holders about Sandy Bear
What do I need for the Role?
- Enjoy talking to people
- Able to stand for periods of time (a chair is often provided)
- Happy to handle cash
- Able to take notes and write peoples phone numbers down for the raffle.
- Work as part of a team of Sandy Bear event volunteers
Why Volunteer for this role?
By supporting Sandy Bear at community events, volunteers make a huge contribution to enabling the charity to work with many more children, young people and families when they most need us.
